- What is PCS?
-
Personal Communications Services (PCS) are a family of end-to-end
telecommunication services that will provide customers new capabilities
enabling them to:
- Place and receive voice and/or data calls when in wireless coverage areas.
The market is expected to demand lightweight, pocket-sized or purse-sized
wireless handsets or small, wireless data terminals having extended
transmission and standby times.
- Be reached on wireless or wired handsets or data terminals by means of a
personal number rather than by a number associated with a specific geographical
location or terminal device.
- Access wireline services while using wireless terminal devices.
- Communicate with a quality and security comparable to that of the wireline
network while using wireless terminal devices.
This family of end-to-end, or end-user, services cuts across the residential
business, and public markets.
