Although we have demonstrated that a common-cavity structure can simultaneously generate two mutually synchronized femtosecond pulse trains through polarization multiplexing and de-multiplexing, a more systemic investigation has to be done to minimize the differential path length and to understand its capabilities and fundamental limits, as well as to realize its full potential for DFOC applications in spectroscopy and chemical sensing.
