Homework: Homework will be assigned weekly, and will be due in class on the Tuesday the week after it was assigned. Assignments will be posted on the course website. Each assignment will consist of some book problems and some "additional problems" A (perhaps non-proper) subset of the problems will be graded based on correctness and on the clarity and quality of presentation. There is a difference between a "solution" and an "answer" The former is what shall be graded. Your lowest 2 homework scores will be dropped.
Discussion Sessions: There is a Discussion Session covering "advanced applications" held weekly and led by a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA). Each Discussion Session will cover a worksheet, which must be completed and submitted for grading at the end of the session. Students should work in small groups to complete the worksheet, discussing the problems and asking for occasional help from the GTA if needed. Discussion Sessions are not held the first week of classes and on any week in which there is a university holiday. The first week in which Discussion Sessions are held is therefore the week of 09-09 – 09-13.
Exams: There will be two exams, one on 10-01 and one on 11-12. The final exam is on 12-20, 13:30 – 16:00.
Course Grading: Grades will be determined based on the breakdown below.

Homeworks: 40%
Worksheets: 20%
Exams: 40%

Letter grades (including +/- designations) will be assigned as usual. The grades on homeworks, worksheets, exams, or the entire course may be curved at professor's discretion.
Honor Code: All work submitted for credit must be the student's own. If you have worked with another student on a homework problem, you should indicate it in your solution. Such cooperation is permitted, but your work must be your own. Quizzes and exams should be completed without unauthorized aid.
