Low Complexity Adaptive Signal Processing Techniques

This work has focused on the development of new adaptive signal processing algorithms which are suitable for VLSI implementation. The object of this work is to develop and verify the performance of novel adaptive DSP algorithms which may be implemented efficiently using integrated circuit technology. Adaptive methods provide the capability to optimize the processing techniques to changing environments, which is necessary in many practical instances. The algorithms studied in this project adapt more quickly, provide better asymptotic optimization errors, and are simpler to implement than current methods. Traditional adaptive algorithms make use of circuits which require large amounts of area on a silicon wafer, which in turn leads to lower production yields and higher costs. By synergistically combining algorithm design with integrated circuit implementation techniques, the conflicting goals of high performance and cost effective implementation can be achieved.
